X Girl after Vermeer, Japanese Water-based Woodcut on Awagami Kozo Murakumo Inkjet Paper, frame size 23 cm x 3 cm x 32 cm, unique print, framed in bespoke artist frame. 2024. 

I took this photograph of a girl on the train to Amsterdam and she reminded me of Vermeer's women deeply lost in thought. She became part of the installation Farewells, which is about the journey in all aspects. The bending and folding of cut-out photographic prints into three-dimensional sculptures exaggerate the physique and posture of the travellers. The title was inspired by Boccioni's work, States of Mind: Those Who Go, Those Who Stay, and Farewells.
