Aurora Borealis Myths, Original Japanese Woodcut Print

During an artist residency at Moskosel Creative Lab in Lapland Sweden, I witnessed Aurora Borealis and researched how traditional culture explains this natural phenomenon. One story goes that the swans flew too high up in the sky during a competition. As a result, their wings became tangled up and frozen and the lights of Aurora appear when they try to break free.
